In the case of a knee replacement the device might be put on the non-operated leg in the pre-operative area and then the other device will be put on your operated leg right after the procedure in the operating room or in the recovery area. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe geko device is very simple to fit.  Once it is applied, it will feel like an adhesive bandage has been applied to your skin.  When the geko is switched on you will see green flashing LED lights indicating that the device is active and which stimulation level has been set to get a foot twitch.  On the underside of the strap, covered by a water-based conductive hydrogel for secure adhesion, negative and positive electrodes deliver painless nerve stimulation to the common peroneal nerve.  The correct stimulation level will be initially set based on the level of stimulation set by your clinician.  Once the correct level is selected, you will notice an automatic outward movement of your foot, which will become less noticeable after a few minutes.  Your awareness of the muscle contractions should gradually lessen as you wear the device.
